Read today that 51% of the British public think violent crime is rising, when it has actually fallen steadily since 2006. 29% think we spend more on Jobseekers Allowance than we do on pensions; we spend 15 times more on pensions (4.9bn vs 74.2bn). We estimate that £24 in every £100 is lost to benefit fraud, but the actual figure is just 70p in every £100. We think 15% of girls under 16 get pregnant every year; only 0.6% do. We assume 31% of the population are immigrants and 13% are Muslims, but the real figures are 13% and 5% respectively. The coalition must be so pleased.
