The role of a player is defined by his ability. If he is really good, he can be the team captain, the scorer and the leader (or the playing coach for this matter) of the team If he is not so good, but still good enough, he can be a role player. He can do defense, set up and rebound. If none of the above, he can be at the bench hired only for his potential and can serve as back-up, just in case the situation needs it. But he won’t be contributing much and possibly none at all in winning any game. Of course true bloodied players want to play and want to be at the starting line up. Nobody wants to be on the bench especially when it comes to playing time. But again (with emphasis) the spot to play must be earned. Life can be like that. We define our role by our ability to handle the responsibilities given to us. If we want to influence the outcome of the situation we are in, we must take an active role to make it happen. If need be we become the team captain or the scorer of the situation. But it is not easy to do. We have to equip ourselves for the task at hand. Thus we study (practice) to perform (score) and reach our goals (win). If we want to win, then we work it out. We cannot expect to influence the outcome of any situation with us as onlookers only. We improve ourselves. We do team-effort. We persist. We do what is necessary and what is needed. This is the attitude of a winner. This should be our attitude.
