The rwal cowardly opportunistic face of the anti-globalization movement were exposed with the war in Afghamnistan, when their values contradicted each other. On the one hand, they were all against the western imperialism, which they themselves hated and described as pure evil, thus supporting all who fought against it. On the other hand, being part of those groups carrying imperialism around the world, they felt under attack after 9-11. Of course the fact Afghanistan had a regime that wasnt really defendable in terms of moral and progressive values didnt really help. Therefore they failed to protest against an unjustified imperialist war that complicated things even more. Why Im writing about this? Dont want to explain. But it did remind me once more of one of Phil Ochses favourites, here updated in a way I still find respectful to the original. Values - real values - are tested not in times when its easy to follow them.
