The situation in Crimea is just like what Russia did in Georgia in - TopicsExpress

The situation in Crimea is just like what Russia did in Georgia in 2008. Russia, under the dictatorial rule of President Vladimir Putin, is chipping away at countries who are free and independent from Russia since the breakup of the Soviet Union. What President Vladimir Putin is afraid of, is that all of the independent nations who do not hold allegiance to Russia, will be able to join the European Union and that Russia will loose any chance for a continuing economic growth that was happening when these different countries were allied with Russia. So, now the Russian military should pull back to their own lines and leave the Crimea and the Ukraine alone. This would allow Putin to withdraw and save face. He would have made his point. He says that the military was sent in to protect the Russian people that are in the Crimea and the Ukraine. If this were so, then all of the other former satellite nations will have to really watch themselves. They could be next!
