The situation in Mexico has escalated beyond control. Just last night a fellow student, friend and demonstrator was illegally aprehended and secluded for hours in a governmental building, all for crimes he did not commit. He is just one individual in the sea of victims who, since 2006, have faced basic human rights violations at the hands of our government. We need help. We cannot fight a repressing, authoritarian and violent state on our own. Look south of the U.S border, help us create dialogue and awareness of what is happening to our country. We need all the help we can get. On October 2nd 1968 military officials, following the Mexican government´s orders, opened fire on close to 100 innocent students. On September 28th 43 students from a rural community in a southern Mexican state called Guerrero were picked up and (supposedly) murdered by police officers following orders from the mayor and his wife. Today, students from all over the country are being picked up one by one, beaten and threatened to create the same fear and repression that occurred 46 years ago. Today we can hinge on social media to inform the general population, but we need more exposure. To anyone outside of Mexico, anyone who can help spread the news of what is happening, we need you. We cannot divide ourselves by nationalities, we are all humans, and right now people are being murdered, slaughtered, raped by the state. We need change, we need safety and need a different government. #FUEELESTADO y seguirá siéndolo.
