The story of Luke, the only Gentile among so many of the Jewish - TopicsExpress

The story of Luke, the only Gentile among so many of the Jewish writers of the Holy Scripture seems to be sensitive to the feelings of the disenfranchised outsiders. No doubt he often felt the pain of rejection by the Jewish brethren who argued among themselves over who was the greatest (insider) of the followers of Jesus, though Jesus taught His followers to prefer their brethren. Luke was not one of the 12 apostles, but wrote the book of Luke and the Book of Acts. When you read his writings, you can easily see how the none Pharisees felt excluded from anything that pertained to temple ministry prayer and worship. Luke seemed to be a champion for the rights of the excluded to be accepted whether they were; women, sheepherders, poor, or racially different Samaritans, and just maybe that was because he had felt much discrimination on a personal level, because he was a Gentile among an all Jewish writers fellowship of believers. I recall an old song that says, Id rather be on the inside looking out, than to be on the outside looking in, and I know the writer was not writing it in context with this post, but my point being, everybody wants to be on the inside, especially in the body of Christ. The good news of the Gospel of Jesus, He is the door to the sheepfold and we go through Him only. The door to the sheepfold is wide open today, and Jesus invites everyone to enter, and there is nothing but you that can keep you on the outside. kbm
