The thing about watching football playoff games is I am exposed to all these horrible and stupid network teevee shows through their promotions. They all seem to be about good, honest, dedicated federal law enforcement personnel who are committed to nothing other than protecting American citizens and values. Or something. Who watches this bloody pablum, and why? For one thing, if these stupid things were reflective of our collective life experience, the body count would be so high as to be a national crisis. All the killing, the threats, the magic tech, the black-fingernailpolish hackers and the quirky characters that arrive at the solution, all of the contrived situations and stupid villains are beyond my ability to suspend disbelief. And yet, these are what the networks choose to purvey, and what my fellow American citizens choose to watch.
