The town of Macrohon and other parts of Southern Leyte continue to - TopicsExpress

The town of Macrohon and other parts of Southern Leyte continue to receive a stream of survivors from Tacloban and other badly hit areas, so more of the relief goods we prepared the last few days ended up being distributed to the evacuees who have fled their shattered houses and traveled, some on foot, all the way here. They have nowhere else to go-- no home, no food, no job to return to. Fortunately, a number of our concerned local residents have freely opened their homes to accommodate those who need a place to stay, many of them are strangers. The stories we’ve heard are beyond heartbreaking. There’s one mother who came to pick up a relief pack. Her son is still in shock. He reached Macrohon from Tacloban after walking for two days. This guy was working at a bakeshop on the ground floor of Gaisano when a violent storm surge washed everything on its path away. He doesn’t know how to swim, but the piece of wood he had clung to ultimately saved his life.
