from Bournville News Thai cook Khun Saiyuud Diwong, affectionately known as Poo, will be coming to Bournville to give a cookery demonstration and running a masterclass as part of her UK tour this Spring. Poo is a Thai lady who used to runs a small catering business from her home. People passing by would stop to buy freshly-cooked snacks and treats. But when rampant food price inflation hit Thailand, she was unable to make ends meet. Then she met development workers from Urban Neighbours Of Hope, who partnered with her to provide start-up capital for a small cookery school which has subsequently become what TripAdvisor has called “One of the best-rated activities in Bangkok”. Now Poo is coming in person to the UK present a series of cookery classes and demonstrations. Two will be held in Birmingham on Friday 4th April at Rowheath Pavilion, Heath Road, Bournville, Birmingham B30. Starting at 10.30 am and running through to 3.00 (ideal for people picking up kids from school) there will be a cookery school taught in person by Poo. Then at 7.30 in the evening there will be an interactive cookery demonstration, an opportunity for people from the audience to join Poo in cooking a dish, and an open Q&A time. The cookery school costs just £30 per person, and the demonstration is £10. Places are limited to 50. Contact: Tim Herbert ([email protected]) to book.
