The universe is full of people with diverse abilities. There are starters and finishers. There are thinkers and meticulous people. Some are great at conceiving plans but lose interest in following through on them, while others are tenacious in seeing a project through but ill-suited to dreaming up the next idea. You will benefit immensely when you involve people in your projects who have traits and perspective that are the opposite of yours. One of the reasons Jesus succeeded was that He appointed twelve apostles, each having his peculiar talent and profession. They came together, complemented Jesus’ efforts and ran His earthly ministry successfully. One of the things Moses felt could make him underperform in the assignment God gave to him was his stammering. But to compensate for this, Aaron came into the scene. Amazingly, no one ever noticed that ugly aspect of Moses till he died. Dr. Howard Murad, a Los Angeles dermatologist observed that many of his patients’ concern about appearances fell at the intersection of medicine and beauty care. He believed no one understood this and could complement his efforts other than a beautician. ‘I wanted to address the patient’s concerns and if that meant using facials instead of insert surgery get the job done, then that was what I would do’ said Dr. Murad. 20 years after engaging the services of a beautician, Dr. Murad’s business of selling cosmetic products and medical treatments brings in 60 million dollars a year. Take a deep look at yourself and what you do. I know you will have certain areas of weaknesses. In an area of weakness, someone out there is strong and talented. Why not outsource? Why not bring in the person even if it is going to be for a fee? Who cares who does a job, for as long as the job gets done! Since you do not know it all, and cannot do it all, there is wisdom in seeking inputs from others. See you at the top!
