The upcoming trends in Ski tourism When some people dread the chilly winter days, others wait eagerly for this time to arrive. The temperature goes below the freezing point and snow covers the colder regions of earth heavily. Forecasters have already predicted that this year, winter temperatures are going to be below average, as a result, a heavy snowfall is expected in many parts of Britain and Europe. It is good news for the ski lovers who embrace this season with their open arms and plunge into the snow capped mountain wearing two thin pieces of wood wrapped in fiberglass around their feet. Last year snowfall was not sufficient, therefore, the ski lovers could not enjoy to the fullest. Certain places are famous for skiing adventures like Switzerland, France and Russia. Of all, Switzerland is the most expensive place and the most popular destination for the ski lovers of Britain. Though France has been a hot spot for skiing, last winter snowfall was limited in the Alps. Accommodation prices are speculated to be higher this year, if snowfall is in abundance this year. Bulgaria and Romania are emerging as hotspots for ski holidays. Sochi in Russia is also going to be a hot destination for a couple of years coming, since Russia will be hosting winter Olympics during 2014. Sochi’s market will boom that time. Canada has shown good snowfall last season; therefore, this year too it will receive many guests from other countries for skiing. During the winter, food and drinks are highly charged in resorts and chalets. So it is better to opt for self catering. You provide and prepare your own meals and this way you can control your expenses. Some even opt for fully catered rather than part-catered chalets to save more money. Fully catered chalets provide three course dinners and wine while, part catered chalets allow visitors to choose how many meals they want to pre-order. It is good for people who do not want to be tied to the resort for food during holidays. Apart from skiing, many tourists try other adventurous activities. Some prefer ice climbing using ice picks and other special equipments. Val Gardena in the Dolomites is a perfect place for this kind of activity. Austria has a range of activities, such as paragliding and sleigh rides on snowfields. China too is gaining importance as a winter tourist spot. Last year several reservations were made under skiing tour packages and hot springs. Even in very cold winter, travelers in China can enjoy hot water and this becomes the biggest attraction.
