The video opens with Colmes asking Carson if he thinks people have been unfair to Obama because of his race. Carson says that he doesn’t see it that way, saying that people are quick to make accusations of racism in America. Carson says we should insert some objectivity into the discussion, and when contentious issues arise, ask ourselves if we would have the same conflict if it were a white person in Obama’s place. Colmes then tries his best to trap Carson on the documentation questions, to which Carson responds that there has never been such an incredible effort to hide the background of a president before. He says the best way to put all of those issues to rest is to expose everything, including academic records. He asks Colmes the question, “Don’t you think it is reasonable for people who are seeking public office or in public office to allow people to see what they are getting and to expose their past records? They then get into a discussion of what Carson calls a “shroud of secrecy” around Obama’s records.
