The voices of our youth are to be heard not silenced. I was honored and blessed to mentor and support over 300 youth at Bioneers alongside my Weaving Earth Community of Mentors, and met a large crew of Colorado youth organizers and activists who are saying NO More colonial oppression / patriarchy / patriotism to be taught in schools. Ani DiFranco calls this history book history. Check out what some of Americas Youth is up to (and they arent alone): At a protest last week, hundreds of Denver-area high school students held cardboard signs with slogans including, Don’t make history a mystery and Keep your politics out of my education. The protests began after the school board announced it was considering reviewing the curriculum of Advanced Placement history courses and adding more material to promote citizenship, patriotism, essentials and benefits of the free-market system, respect for authority and respect for individual rights.
