The way we store refrigerated foods in cold climates is just plain stupid ! Your icebox is fighting with your in-house temperatures during the early fall to late spring every year wasting money. Its sustainable to think that your food cooling box should be connected to the outside air and taking advantage of these cold temps. Imagine for a second that many months of the year your freezer and fridge is using virtually no energy except to combat that which it loses naturally to your home , inbox lighting and people who open the door.Instead it is fighting against an environment set between 68-75 F thats constantly robbing it of its cold. This port if you will would also close when outside temps rise above 30F for a freezer and 55F for a fridge.
