The wealth gap is perpetual: If you are upper middle class and have very involved parents and a good school district, you can take IB and AP courses all the way through school and get a jump on college. You can do travel soccer and outside paid sports leagues which means you will get a place on the varsity teams, which poor kids wont. and you are more likely to get an athletic scholarship OR an academic scholarship. From what I have seen in Asia, paid tutoring and supplemental education centers went from being an advantage to the wealthy to being an absolute necessity if you want your kid to go to university and have a future. In some ways, the US is not only privatizing education and sports training but even physical well-being and mental alertness. Viva la raza! Que Viva la revolucion!
