The words to an old song came back as clearly as the day they - TopicsExpress

The words to an old song came back as clearly as the day they first heard them. In this case, the “they” were Bobbie and our Missy, who flew to Orlando last Sunday to be with her mom for treatments. On their way to the hospital on Monday morning, harmony encircled their car: Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me. Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Simple lyrics. Powerful truth. This week, Missy was able to see for herself how God has answered this prayer and is sustaining her mother. The sweet welcome Bobbie receives from the women at the clinic energizes her with joy. After handing out handmade Valentines there were more smiles and hugs. Happy was the Spirit “falling afresh” around the clinic. This week, Bobbie had her sixth round of chemo and another trial injection. Her CA-125 continues to hover in the high 400’s and the CT scan results show the slow yet steady decrease of bad cells. The treatments seem to be keeping down the tumor growth. For this we are very thankful. Valentine’s Day this year marks the second anniversary of the beginning of our incredible adventure. This week, as we were remembering this upcoming red-letter day, Bobbie said what she has said so many times before. “God has been so present with us at every turn. He’s so real. So faithful. So merciful.” And then she added as usual, “So what’s our hymn for today? I feel like singing!” Although we do not know how many months the treatments will continue, we will proceed with the doxil and clinical trial booster as long as the side-effects are manageable. We have chosen to stay with the regimen and are pleased that her quality of life is very good. Another very happy thing for Bobbie this week was re-entry into Bible Study at our church. The new seven-week study is called “Becoming a Woman of Prayer” and Bobbie was able to again join the precious women who have tenaciously held her up with their love and prayers for the past 24 months. It was especially exciting for Bobbie to have Missy in town to meet and receive hugs from many church friends. Missy thanked each one for their care during the months when she and Julie have been unable to be in Orlando to help. The women in our church are truly family. They have been the loving hands and feet of Jesus, soup makers and meal bringers and prayer partners who have given gifts of time and care at every turn. We continue to be overwhelmed with the kindness of God’s people. My heart is overflowing with good news. I will direct my song to the King. (Psalm 45:1) We send special Valentine’s Day love to you along with songs and smiles. We thank you, again, for sharing with us on this journey. We are so grateful. And we—the Valentine girl and I—give praise to our gracious King
