Their trauma is neither post, nor past I heard from a friend in - TopicsExpress

Their trauma is neither post, nor past I heard from a friend in Gaza who was telling me about their little cousin. What they shared completely destroyed my heart. They said their cousin was writing her name all over her body with markers. When asked why she was doing that, she said that in case Israel drops a bomb on their home and she’s blown into pieces, someone would be able to identify her. This child is 11 years-old. 11. Just listening to that made my skin crawl and my heart sink. I cannot begin to fathom the level of anxiety and fear that children – innocent, defenseless children – have lived through not once or twice but three times already in their short lives because of Israel’s merciless assaults on Gaza. The psychological trauma and pain inflicted on Palestinian children is beyond repulsive and deplorable. The caustic imprint of traumatic memory will never fade because their trauma is neither post nor past. It’s ongoing and perpetual. To hear such disturbing stories and accept these ongoing atrocities as “deplorable but necessary” is sadistic and sick. Genocide apologists.
