There are a few songs that just transport me back to the Box. This one of them - The Theme from Long Ships. I know I saw the movie- an Ameicanization and sanitation of Viking history, and not at all accurate! I realized this when I was an exchange student in Norway and I saw how far off it was. Its not available on iTunes the last time I checked, either because it just wasnt popular enough or there are legal battles over its release, I guess. Jim Muma could probably tell me the history of the song. But Shirley Kelly must have loved it and found it a very danceable song, because it was played often during my years at the Box (1966/72 or so) because when I hear it, I am immediately transported back in time and place! I dont remember a specific event associate with the song, like a dance with a special person, or a Music Box happening, so I think it was just played regularly and I know it well! I have the privilege of serving as a Board Member on the Music Box Historic Society and recently heard the exact version from the Box. Such a difference from this YouTube version!
