There are some branches of Christianity who would have you believe that love yourself is a doctrine of Satan. However this is not only completely ridiculous, it is highly self-destructive. These same Christians also, it seems to me...tend to struggle with issues like low self-esteem and self-loathing. All because they were taught that it is evil to love yourself...you must love others they say. Yet...if you do not love your own self how can it be even remotely possible to love anyone else? You cant do it, not really. This is why many who call themselves Christian are among the angriest, bitterest, and greediest people around. They do not know how to love themselves and therefore do not know how to love anyone else either, and they think they are showing their Christ-like love for others by putting slips of green government paper into a Churchs congregation-exploitation plate, *ahem*, offering plate. To speak within the context of Christian theological mythology, the satanic doctrine here would be the one where it is evil to love yourself. It ought to be seen as godly to love your own self, since God gave your self to you....it is a gift to be cherished. To hate that is to hate the gift of God is it not? And if you are in love with yourself it becomes a much easier thing to love everyone around you as Jesus taught to do. So...really...these particular sects of Christianity have much more in common with their perception of the Church of Satan than they do with what their alleged savior taught. I say alleged because you cannot call someone your god if you ignore what they actually taught. And I say their perception of the Church of Satan...because Christians have a distinct tendency to not at all understand anything real about genuine Satanists.
