There are some things no dog should ever have to experience. Even though I’m only 4 years old, I’ve been through so much pain already. My name is Electra and I was recently hit by a car. It was the most frightened I have ever been. I didn’t see the car when I suddenly ran out, and I will never forget the sheer terror when it slammed into me. I screamed as I was flung across the road. The accident left me with serious injuries to my two back legs. I was lucky that I was still able to stand and walk, but the pain was unbearable. Somebody called Soi Dog and I was quickly picked up by a man called Khun Sanae. I am being looked after now by Dr. Rain and Dr. Eugene. My back legs are covered in wounds from the accident but these are cleaned and treated every day and I am a very good girl for the vets. From what they have told me, I understand that I am one of the lucky ones. There is a special group of people who are funding my treatment. They send monthly donations so that many stray dogs like me – and cats too – that are sick or injured, can be picked up and given the medical attention they need. These supporters are called the Emergency Response Team. As you read this, there are many other dogs and cats that are not as lucky as me. They are sick or injured; they have been abused or abandoned. Added to their suffering is the fact that they are all alone. There is nobody to help them. YOU are the only hope these animals have and the power to help them is in your hands.
