There are total 24 Development Authority in Assam apart from GMDA. These Authorities are mainly responsible for issuing Land Sale and Building Permissions keeping the specifications as per Master Plan, Building Rules etc. The Chairmen are selected and appointed by Ruling party from their political activist without going through his education etc. which means a illiterate person is eligible for such responsible job. Our highly educated Town Planners are to work under his order and working. For their personal gain (may be money or political gain) they violate all the building construction norms, rules and issue permissions which have led the Towns and Cities to some big SLUM pockets with the help of some non-Government staff appointed by them who has no liability to the Government and Govt. also can not take any action against them.This have been creating drainage problems, artificial flood in the towns, traffic congestion. Knowing all these activities the concerned Department/ Government extending their terms of services again and again for next 5 years just for political accommodation to earn illegal money. Govt. should stop this for grater interest of the people of the towns and cities.
