There comes a time when the potential for injury is greater than the gains. The comments are vicious, fierce but what this kid has uniquely done in his time is superhuman on a level that even other professional riders cant process. Hes pushed the sport of halfpipe riding further than anyone in history and if he pushes it any further, the likelihood of serious injury or death to win a contest is statistically guaranteed. It has come to a point of airs so big, vertigo inverts so disorienting, and spinning to the point of dizziness- all needing to be gauged with the tools of a German engineer and timed with the greatest, precision Swiss watch. Innately, he did it for decades and has the sense and wherewithal to walk away. This kid has exchanged his entire childhood for trophies and contracts. He has lived his life as a machine and, we, the spectators, have no merit or right to offer a negative word. If his statement is true, for the very first time in his life he can just go snowboarding and play his guitar. That sounds amazing to me.
