There is a MEDITATION type practice that I do with all things that are bothering me, no longer necessary to hold onto, spend energy thinking about and fixating on. Things that I CANNOT control. I envision a big empty house, a cabin, and all of these things, these gnawing thoughts, are in boxes on a truck outside the house. I take each box, one by one, inside the house, looking through the contents one last time. I stack all of these boxes in perfect rows. Sometimes there are many, and some times, just a few. I imagine lighting a match, setting all of the boxes on fire. I go outside and from a distance, I watch it all burn to the ground. Sometimes this takes a few minutes, and other times, it can take hours, and I will be in a trance like state. Very seldom do the recurring thoughts come back. Sometimes they do, and I just remind myself, that they are gone, they burned, they were lost in the fire. It helps.
