There is a clear separation of 2 laws/Covenants given on mount - TopicsExpress

There is a clear separation of 2 laws/Covenants given on mount Sinai. It was God who separated them and He did it for a reason. There was another law besides the Big Ten. God did not speak it directly to the people with His own voice; He never wrote it on tables of stone; He never had it placed in the ark. This law was abolished at the cross. This is the law, as we shall see, that Paul refers to when he mentions Christ as “having abolished in his flesh . . . the law of commandments CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES.” (Ephesians 2:15) We will now proceed to discover this other law-what is contained in it, and why it came to an end at the cross. The two laws-the Ten Commandment law that was not abolished, and the other law that was abolished-are spoken of in Deuteronomy 33:1, 2: “This is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. And he said, The Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.” NOTE: We are definitely told that that which the Lord proclaimed to the people on Sinai was “A fiery LAW” not part of a law, but “A . . . LAW.” Then in verse 4 we read, “Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.” It is plain that THE LORD commanded A LAW and that MOSES commanded A LAW. This certainly makes two laws. In Deuteronomy 4:11-14 we have both these laws plainly mentioned: “You came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. And the Lord spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire: you heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only you heard a voice. And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. And the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might do them in the land whither you go over to possess it.” There it is. The Lord commanded a law of Ten Commandments and wrote them and “no more” (Deuteronomy 5:22) on tables of stone. That was one law. At the same time He told Moses to command them statutes, and this made another law; for Deuteronomy 33:4 says, “Moses commanded us a law.” Nothing could be plainer. The Lord commanded a law, and Moses commanded a law. 1+1=2.
