There is a notable difference between Democrats of JFKs time and Democrats of today. While I was not a political supporter of JFK, he was a tax cutter and an anti-Communist. (You can criticize him on specific policies such as the Bay of Pigs, but he was overall an anti-Communist.) Todays Democrats vastly increase Washingtons power and they seem to think the solution to every problem is a tax increase. They are not respected at all by Americas enemies. Todays Democrats are short-sighted and extremely partisan. Everything, to them, is about short-term partisan advantage. One of John Kennedys best friends in the Senate was a political opponent, the great Senator Barry Goldwater. Its said that one day a group of Senators came over to meet JFK, who was late for the meeting. When he arrived, he found Goldwater in his chair. You want my job, Barry?, he kidded. Had JFK lived, the two of them were planning on something that might have revolutionized how Presidential campaigns were run. They were going to go out on a whistle-stop tour together. At one stop, President Kennedy would talk to the crowd about his policy views on a given issue and Senator Goldwater would rebut him. At the next stop, it would be the other way around. What a refreshing idea that would have been. Instead, we got LBJ and the little girl picking flowers. Nasty, partisan, and harmful to the civil body politic.
