There is an on-line petition to make scanning of pets found dead - TopicsExpress

There is an on-line petition to make scanning of pets found dead on UK roads compulsory. The petition needs another 25000 signatures to get to the next level of consideration by the Government. We urge all pet owners to sign the petition to make the legislation happen. The campaign is known as Harveys Law. Here is Harveys story - it is very upsetting. Please read it, think about your own pets and then sign the petition. Im wet, cold and lonely.... I am DEAD... I lie here at the side of the motorway... The man in the truck came and picked me up, but he didnt check my chip or my name tag.. He just discarded me at the side of the hard shoulder. I didnt like it there, I missed my mum and dad and I was worried that they would be upset and that they would be missing me, The magpies, crows and flies were really pestering me... I wanted to get up and run, I couldnt as I was DEAD. A few days passed and I was still lying at the side of the road... Another truck pulled up and I hoped that the man would scan me for a chip or check the name tag attached to my collar and harness, he didnt... He just put me in his wagon and drove me somewhere else... I didnt know where I was, but I really wanted my mum and dad to find me as I knew they would be very worried by now... I tried to bark but I couldnt as I was DEAD.... As I lay in the freezer I could see the other pets who had also died on the roads... I could see their name tags so I didnt know why their mums and dads hadnt come for them.. Time passed and i thought about my happy times on holidays, walks and having cuddles on the sofa... Then one day I was put in a truck and taken away again... I prayed so so hard that someone would check my chip and tag so that I could go home. They didnt... I went into the hot oven with the other lonely pets and my body was reduced to ashes.... My mum and dad continued to search for me, I could see them from rainbow bridge, I barked but they couldnt hear me... I could see they were exhausted and I could see that they were trying so so hard to find me, they set up a facebook group, spent thousands of pounds on leaflets, banners and publicity... They lived in our mobile home for weeks waiting, watching.... I was never going to go home but they didnt know that.... If the men had checked my chip and name tag then they could have told them, they are supposed to as it says in their policies and procedures that they should... These policies and procedures are being phased out as apparently it costs the government too much, even though they already have the scanners.... My mum and dad found out 13 weeks after I died when someone tipped them off... The facebook group set up when I was missing is still going, its called FIND HARVEY... They are lovely people, I call them Harveys army.. They look for other missing pets and go and scan my friends who have also died on the roads, owners deserve to know where their furbabies have gone.. I want a law so other owners dont go through what my mum and dad did, I want compulsory scanning of domestic animals who die on the highways, I want them to tell the dog warden, I want all necessary measures to be taken so other owners can have closure... Please sign harveys law petition epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/62490 ..... Thank you for reading my story, I send lots of love from rainbow bridge. I know Im not there with you but I can see how hard you are all working to help my friends... lots of love and licks Harvey xxx Author: Emily @ Harvey Law
