There is music that we like. There is music that speaks to us. There is music that moves us. Then, there is music that hits us somewhere in the blood and the bones--somewhere so far down that it speaks with an ancient voice. It is beyond personal: it is stored somewhere in DNA or molecules (I dont know how it all works). There are some songs that are more than being my song. It is like I can feel that it is my peoples song. I have only felt this feeling on a handful of occasions. But suddenly, I really wish I knew more about my paternal bloodline.
