There is no such thing as innocence or guilt, they are states of mind conceived by a third party on your behalf, and once conceived they are as good as law, as good as a conviction. Circumstantial evidence is sufficient to prove guilt, corroborating testimony from a friend, insufficient to prove innocence; this is the way all matters turn and once they have turned their back on you there is no way out - you are stained with the shame of guilt and another girl’s perfume.
