There was a report in The Star newspaper today calling for the sacking of Water Minister for Nakuru County Richard Kipsang Rop over alleged water shortages in Nakuru town. Its probably because the MCA knows hes lying and thats why he didnt want to be quoted since the opposite is actually the truth. Most parts of Nakuru town have adequate water and sanitation services although theres room for improvement. Nakurus water supply status is a far.cry from the past when it was erratic and taps often ran dry for months especially in areas like Shabab. Rop is doing a great job alongside the management of NAWASSCO and the only conclusion we can reach is that the MCA simply wants Rop out just because hes from a certain tribe that hes being percieved to be supporting in the latest saga that has rocked the Nakuru County Government run water body. Rop is amongst the most- industrious, unpretentious and level headed and darling of many- workers and the calls by the MCA are unfortunate, misguided and outrageously uncalled for. Lets not draw professionals like Rop into petty cocoons of tribalism that is the speciality of politicians. Its good to hear from Soin ward representative Simon Molock (URP) who said the two camps have settled their differences. “We have no problem with our brothers and so far we have resolved the small issue that was at Nawassco,” he said. Molock said it will be pointless for TNA MCAs to table such a motion as it will send a wrong message to the public. He said some leaders should shelve their own interests for the sake of the county. We couldnt agree more with him.
