There was a special guest was at the bakery today - Jordan came to work for the day all the way from Chesterfield! Jordan is of course a boys names as well as the name of an attention seeking woman with rather large assets. As a cool 14 year old he was absolutely delighted with his hairnet although he lost it a couple of times but luckily I found it - it had accidentally fallen into the bin in the bakery twice. I met Jordan at the train station at Derby after I had dropped the fab cakes off at Radio Derby for Sally Pepper (posted earlier). I was meeting him on platform 3 then 6 then 3 then finally platform 1 - I was absolutely delighted to keep running up and down those stairs with my Costa (ugh)and didnt complain to every member of staff I saw. After a short delay in the car park where a woman managed to wedge herself between her car door and the car park barrier when her ticket got stuck (and it wasnt me for a change) we arrived at the bakery. Jordan baked, decorated and then delivered cakes with me. Of course he had to do the obligatory vat of buttercream (8kg) because I am in charge and we need it for all those workshops this week. Its such fun being covered top to toe in icing sugar. After I had hoovered him he could breathe again. His favourite piece of bakery equipment was the jet washer (Abracadabra Kid loved that too). Its quite difficult to control and he did save time tonight by giving himself a full shower by mistake oops! Dropped him off back in Chesterfield tonight with some goodies and guess what HE WANTS TO COME AGAIN. Whoop whoop. Free labour. Any other volunteers please email [email protected] Thank you!
