There was something special about Helen. Not only did she live a long precious life, she was gracious enough to pass along her music and stories and love to all that wanted to hear. When I first got interested in standards and jazzSusie Miget and Nancy Anderson-Bierma co-produced a series of concerts called The Women of Jazz. One year I was on the same show as Helen was which to me was amazing. A week or two later, I got a thank you note from Helen in the mail. Ill never forget that....SHE wrote me!!!! Wow...I still have that note. What a wonderful person. Later on in life, I got to play for her at Jewish Life once a month. She shared with me so many stories of back in the day when cats knew their music! Helen, I will miss you but I will always hear you.
