There were some significant changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act - TopicsExpress

There were some significant changes to the Dangerous Dogs Act yesterday, which will apply to all dog owners. The main changes are: 1 - Section 3 of the Act has been extended to include private property (so if your dog bites anyone on private property, anywhere in England or Wales, then you will have committed a criminal offence) 2 - This now also applies specifically to Assistance Dogs. 3 - The penalties for being found guilty have also been upped considerably! Dogs owners should be aware that a dog does not have to bite for the owner to be potentially prosecuted under this legislation - it doesnt have to be an aggressive dog that bites you, it could just be a very enthusiastic dog that knocks someone over and injures them accidentally. If you are at all concerned about any of these changes, or would like to find out more then remember our Behaviour Services Department can help you.
