The Malka Foundation Editorial Fellowship at Lilith Magazine Are you interested in Jewish life and feminism? Want to experience first-hand how Lilith magazine is created, in print and online? Hone your thinking, advocacy and editorial skills? Lilith magazine welcomes applicants for a new staff position: the Malka Foundation Editorial Fellow will participate in all facets of creating the quarterly print issues of Lilith magazine (independent, Jewish & frankly feminist), and will work with Lilith online (Lilith.org) as well. The Malka Fellowship will provide the right candidate with a unique opportunity to be part of the lively nuts-and-bolts world of magazine publishing. The year-long Fellowship will begin in Spring 2014. Some of the Malka Fellow’s tasks will include: Editorial Assigning new articles and editing in-progress manuscripts; Line editing at various stages of magazine production; Assisting with author and artist communication; Acquiring and distributing copies of new book titles for review; Participating in day-to-day website maintenance; Editing and posting blog entries and articles on the Lilith website. Outreach and Communication Communicating with Lilith salons across the country; Expanding Lilith’s community outreach; Creating marketing opportunities for Lilith; Drafting periodic e-newsletters to reach Lilith’s online audience; Assisting in social media outreach; Supporting day-to-day office tasks. This full-time position includes excellent supervision by senior staff, participation in all editorial meetings, attending events and covering news of Jewish and feminist interest, and more. The Fellow will have the chance to meet with leaders of the Jewish community and general women’s movement, attend public programs, and hone her media skills. The Lilith fellowship will provide a salary, plus focused mentorship and learning. Qualifications: Excellent written communication, editing and proofreading skills; social media enthusiasm; proficiency in HTML and InDesign (preferred); attention to detail and the big picture; ability to work independently and as part of a team. The Malka Fellow will be someone who likes to read, write and talk, is able to work on short- and long-term projects, and has demonstrated interest in Jewish and women’s issues.
