Theres something about summers in The City. Its unlike the season, anywhere else. NYC summers give you an indescribable energy and imagination, to makes you do and be your BEST. The scents of global dishes, freshly mowed lawns and burning charcoal. Seeing children play and giggling in park sprinkler systems and reminiscing on my own childhood: bobby socks, corn rows, icy day at school, freeze tag, hot piece n butter and hide n seek. We played double dutch, from sun up til sun down. Block parties.....do those still exist? Funny how summers for many of us existed in no more than a 2-10 block radius. Still, it was what we lived for, summer after summer, until we learned that we are bigger than da block, da stoops and da buildings, we resided in. No matter where we go, in any region of this continent, our city gives us a badge of respect. We open our mouths and they all say, You must be from NY. I am not only from NY, Im from Brooklyn! The county of Kings, is home to this Queen. Theres a cockiness to us Brooklynites.......dont hate us, celebrate us! Its a Brooklyn thang, yall wouldnt and couldnt understand. Looking forward to that euphoric smell of Coney Island, sidewalk sales, Ditnas Park historical tours, drummers in Prospect Pk, concerts at Wingate field and Mr. Softee.......BRING IT ON, SUMMER!
