These are the three dogs that came in today. They were together and had obviously been abandoned. They are very thin and very scared. The brown female hunkers down and comes up to you to flop down for a belly rub, the spotted one is a male and he is more timid but does like to be petted and the pup is petrified. It took a long time to catch him and even more coaxing, TLC and patience to get him out of the van and into a crate. The female has a hip issue that we will attend to if a rescue does not step up soon. We have no money (thousands of dollars of debt) and no room. If we do not move several dogs this weekend we are looking at making the heart wrenching decision of scheduling our first euthanization day since by contract we have to provide room for strays that need to be picked up and we can not take in anymore at this point. If that happens I will be throwing in the towel and stepping down from OCFA. It sickens me that after devoting 13 years to make a difference Owen Countys intake of neglected strays due to irresponsible humans is higher than it ever has been. We have offered low cost spay and neuter clinics and tried to educated people on why it is important to spay and neuter and why NO ONE needs to be breeding dogs at this point for a few years but apparently it has all fallen on deaf ears.-----Hilari
