These days I encounter more and more Filipinos who want to be - TopicsExpress

These days I encounter more and more Filipinos who want to be more financially literate, but dont know what steps to take. Its not normally taught in school after all (or even at home, unfortunately). And its likely your job doesnt teach you this either. But its encouraging to see Filipinos start to take their personal finances seriously and even help others in doing the same. Many tell me their interest was sparked by the realization that after working several years, they have set aside NOTHING for their future -- worse if they have kids who are dependent on them for their future too. Some are in a difficult situation because of medical expenses. Or maybe they are supporting their parents and relatives. Or maybe they just overspend and have no discipline with their money. Or maybe they dont know where to put their money other than their savings account. Bahala na is a very common Filipino attitude. Part of what I do for a living is to teach financial planning basics, and show that anyone with a source of income can create a plan and take steps TODAY. Can you save 33 pesos a day? Then you can do something. First, EDUCATE YOURSELF regardless of your age. Lots of companies offer free seminars. Im happy to share what I know and give you practical advice (free too).
