These names that we are calling "Black names" are personal names - TopicsExpress

These names that we are calling "Black names" are personal names that draw on Europe or Asia for cultural direction and/or inspiration. Why is it that we are so resistant to legally embracing actual Afrikan names? The fear of economic sanction in the labour market may be a motivating factor behind the practice of politically-aware Afrikans keeping the European-imposed personal names from the days of the enslavement. However, we must not cower before this stick. We must fight for affirmative action or employment equity (AA/EE) and call out trade unions for supporting white supremacy in their lukewarm support for AA/EE in the workplace as well as for their tendency to not see how seniority rules serve as racist and patriarchal employment barriers.
