*These ties that bind* “Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.” ― Rumi What prompts us to continue living? After heartbreaks and exhaustion, what encourages us to move on and keep that smile on our face? It’s the ties that bind you to the world, to people, to moments and most importantly, to yourself. At most times, life seems very superficial, as if it’s completely lived within other people’s lives, their stories and how it affects us. But nothing is as it seems. Life is a war fought within oneself. A war which is driven to definite victory, either of the good or the evil. When put like this, in simple words, life seems all too simple. But it’s not that way, is it? Or at least it doesn’t seem so to me. What we don’t realize is that the world is just a factor in life. The outside world is not everything. To conquer life means to win the real battle within oneself. Irrespective of the winner in the inner battle, accomplishing victory in this battle is the realization of the purpose of birth. Not everyone is supposed to walk the path of light. Some are destined to be evil. They are actually the ones who bring out the good in people. Realization of one’s potential unfortunately does not come with a tag. You might already have completed your battle, but you may not know it yet or ironically, may never realize it at all. The one tie that binds you to yourself, is the definition of you. The way you relate to and understand yourself is what makes you who you are. It is what that helps you realize your true self, your true potential. But sometimes, we spend all our lives cutting the wrong cords, spending time on the wrong ties and forget the most vital cord that lies tangled in some corner. This process of self-realization may not be as it seems in my extremely wild imagination. It is so gradual that you don’t even realize it. All we need to do is realize where that special cord lies and take one step towards it. You never know, you may reach it tomorrow. Maybe you’ll have a cup of self-realization for tea? Or coffee? I’ve always been a coffee person. ~ Anagha Chakravarthi #TAWfanarchy
