They (Imperialists) have remained silent about the shocking circumstances of obvious state neglect surrounding the tragic Gulf Coast, where a whole community of mainly nonwhites was deliberately abandoned to the ravages of Hurricane Katrina as sacrificial lambs The above quote is from our own ancestor President Robert Matibili Mugabe. The year was 2005 and the venue was the UN General Assembly. Typical of Mugabe, he goes outside the country in one of his thousands of trips, and he wants to dramatize as a good and sympathetic leader. The floods that hit the US Gulf Coast , cost George (Dubya) Bushs party in the next elections because George Bush had decided to delay visiting the affected areas and giving directions on disaster management. To Americans this is criminal for an elected President to do that and even a Mugabe who hails from a poor African country miles away, who has presided over his countrys destruction, could be seen shedding crocodile tears about this disaster. But then now its home. Right now in our country, floods have destroyed homes, killed people, destroyed graves and left people destitute in Mugabes own backyard. This has been happening for weeks, not the 3 days that George Bush delayed to act, but weeks. And Mugabe is nowhere to be seen. In a country the size of a South African Province, he has appointed two Deputy Presidents, as if we need them, plus an infinite number of cabinet ministers, their deputies, their CIOs but up to now there is no direction as to how the victims of flooding will be assisted. And Mugabes body is miles away, in China in the name of Far East and the Chinese doctors are busy panel beating the old smelly body hoping to give it more days on earth. No word about the victims of flooding. But just for arguments sake, should Barack Obama say Mugabe has remained silent about the shocking circumstances of obvious state neglect surrounding the tragic Zimbabwe, where a whole community of mainly nonwhites is deliberately abandoned to the ravages of flooding as sacrificial lambs, then we will have a whole month of noise. First will be an Editorial from Herald, followed by analysts who include Charity Manyeruke of UZ and Tafataona Mahoso plus two more maggots one from NUST and the other from Midlands State university. They will be crying foul on behalf of the fossil Mugabe. Hee Obama dont interfere in our sovereignty... And yet the same fossil had the guts to criticize Bush on Katrina. But then how will ZANU(PF) win election by more than two thirds majority after all this mess? Is it that Zimbabweans are wrongly being accused of having a high literacy rate on the continent? Asijiki!
