They will say these new types are contrails left by Airplanes. Take a good like at the sky. Do they do such manoeuvres as to leave criss-cross patterns? Trains and planes usually fly in straight lines without getting in the way of others in the close vicinity. But at this rate, you would have plenty of accidents in the sky. Beat my logic: Contrails as per definition are left by planes and then they dissipate after some time. For the criss cross patterns to form, you would have to have them flying closeby and close to each other. Have you ever seen them as such? I have indeed seen them myself being done with small planes that fly those irregular patterns as opposed to regular commercial planes which hardly emit any trails. Moreover, commercial planes have very strict flight paths, rates of ascent, height corridors. Two planes flying close apart will use different altitudes by as much as 1000 ft. Rather these manoeuvres are executed by those acrobatic type jets that can fly in close formation. I am sure you may have seen air shows, either live or on TV.
