Things I did before I was a PT- 1) Complete two moderate sets of 10-12 reps on 2-3 machines, then leave thinking I had annihilated an impressive full body workout. I would then treat myself to a giant chocolate protein bar upon leaving the gym, and relax my portion sizes for any remaining meals that day. 2) Was genuinely convinced spot reduction WAS possible. Countless sit-ups, tricep extensions and the adductor machine were essential for any good session. 3) Body Pump. 3) Assumed EVERYONE Was secretly judging my athletic ability. Id engage in a full blown sprint session for my warm up, and then try and hide the fact I was severely puffed out by attempting to quieten my heavy breathing. On multiple occasions this ended up in the bathroom with me close to blacking out due to oxygen deprivation. 4) Wore my cycling Lycra into the gym straight after a RPM class, so everyone knew how much of a badass endurance athlete I was.
