Thinking of Edgar Allan Poe on the anniversary of his death. The - TopicsExpress

Thinking of Edgar Allan Poe on the anniversary of his death. The first time I heard The Raven was in fifth grade after lunch during a half hour that Mr. Hatley set aside for the class to listen to cassette recordings of old radio horror and suspense stories. He would close the blinds and turn off the lights to add to the atmosphere. One of those days he played a recording of The Raven. I dont know who was reading on the tape but the voice seemed to match perfectly the poem. Im a very visually oriented person, so as the poem went along I could clearly see it happening in my head. That was one of the funnest times Ive ever had being scared. All my writer friends also probably remember exactly where they first heard/read it.
