This Incident is projected as polictial muscle power of not - TopicsExpress

This Incident is projected as polictial muscle power of not wanting to pay the toll. I too thought so based on title and shared this with comments about political hooliganisms. But then when digging into the issue, I see another version to this story, an issue that urban cities-esp down south-faces. 2nd version goes like this: When the car stopped at the toll , the man collecting toll asked for car number- since it was written in Kannada. The driver spells the number, when the toll person asks the numbers be told in hindi!!! I agree it was not acceptable to physically manhandle someone; The toll guyworking in a State, not knowing the local language also maybe not wrong; But he questioning in why the numbers are in Kannada and to spell the numbers in Hindi- brings out the often faced mindset of people from other state working here. No offense to any, but I have faced people asking me why they should learn local language and why dont the locals not learn Hindi!!!! The reason they give- Hindi is the national language... Will the same people go argue on same logic with the French, Italians or Germans etc if they work there that they learn English? then why do they have this mindset that other languages are inferior to Hindi? And that was the base of anger shown by the people in the car, though I do not agree physical assault and destruction of public property. Let me wait until my politically affluent friends enlighten of the actual fact!!!
