This brings me no joy and may well bring me some flack, possibly well-deserved if Ive not thought this through, but the more I hear about The Interview, the less Im inclined to defend it. The Kim family is a bunch of Stalinist thugs, granted, but to have a sitting world leader assassinated on screen in a comedy no matter how hard that leader may be working to earn that kind of disrespect: Im not wanting to call that freedom of expression. Id be opposed to making an amusement out of killing as part of a comedy Putin, or Mugabe, let alone Bush or Obama. Make a movie that shows him molesting border collies or collecting Precious Moments figures or some other peculiar quirk, but killing him, on screen, is a bridge too far for me. Does it justify the actions we suspect North Korean hackers of committing? No, but I see where the new level of anger is coming from. If you want to mock the Kim family, just show their actions for what they are, and if they and their agents want to get upset about that, well all stand shoulder-to-shoulder in defense of freedom and truth. But if this is about their right to publicly execute him for a bromance extravaganza, count me out. What a weird day. Ive felt moved to say something in favor of both the Castro family and the Kim family in the same 24 hours. #WhatAWonderfulWorld
