This congressman needs to go Virginia. Vote him The Republican Who Voted ‘No’ Posted on 24 September, 2013 by clyde The Wall Street Journal is reporting that House Republicans worked hard to present a united front on Friday when they voted to keep the government financed in a way that also cut off funding for U.S. President Barack Obama’s signature health law. But Rep. Scott Rigell (R., Va.), a car dealer now in his second term, decided he couldn’t go along. Mr. Rigell was the only Republican to vote “no” on a plan supported by 228 GOP lawmakers. Mr. Rigell said that while he supports eliminating funding for the health law, he wanted to register concern with the across-the-board spending cuts known as the sequester, which are of particular concern to his constituents. “What is needed is a comprehensive solution to our nation’s fiscal challenges, including a replacement for sequestration,” Mr. Rigell said in a statement. It was not the first time that Mr. Rigell broke ranks with Republicans over government spending. Earlier this year, Mr. Rigell, whose district is home to a defense contractors such as BAE Systems Inc., flew with Mr. Obama to a speech in Newport News, Virginia, to highlight the effects of cuts in military spending on the defense industry. House Democrats also came up short in trying to maintain party unity. Reps. Jim Matheson (R., Utah) and Mike McIntyre (D., N.C.) – two of the few remaining members of the once powerful group of centrist Democrats known as the Blue Dogs – voted for the Republican plan. Mr. McIntyre said that it was important to keep the government funded, and that he didn’t think much of Mr. Obama’s health law. “My record on the health care law has been crystal clear – I voted against it when it was first considered, have voted to repeal it dozens of times, and today voted to defund it,” Mr. McIntyre said in a statement. “The need for health care reform is clear, but this law is not the right approach for our citizens, communities,
