This did not have to happen. It must not happen again. As an Elder in our community, I have seen countless events such as this happen, across our Nation. Once more we have been wounded. We have been charged for taking care of this precious, little Life by Creator. We have failed as an Anishinaabe People. Yes, we can say that the government, and society has failed us on many, many, many different levels. And, you know what, government, society and even our own leaders will fail us tomorrow. In honor of this Little One, can we start walking this Red Road together, that Creator made for us, in order to move ahead. Dollar signs must not obscure our vision. This government, this society, and our own leaders who have let us down, must be set aide. We are an inclusive, viable Nation on Turtle Island.
