This event was mentioned to me by word of mouth twice. I just might attend. Patterson Park Church is sending a bus over. When I visit the jail, it seems heroin is the culprit thats bringing a lot of misery, ruin, and death. Its great to see a big event like this, and I am sure God will use it. What is more important is the daily and weekly involvement on the street-level, to rescue those that are perishing. I heard that 10-people died in Dayton last week because of a bad batch of heroin. Some end up with permanent brain damage. Heard a story of one guy who got clean for awhile then went back for just one more... and died that night. At the jail this morning a young woman tried to commit suicide. Thank God they found her. Real suffering right here in our own Jerusalem and Judea. Patterson Park Church has a Celebrate Recovery program, as many churches do. Its a 12-step program with Gods Word (not just a higher power), and it works, because Gods Word is powerful, and those who work the program must make a commitment. But I will have to admit this heroin severely damages people, and the recovery cost in time and lost income is huge. But each life, each soul, is worth it. Jesus died for each one. He came to seek and save the lost. And He wants us to be His hands and feet. Not just on some foreign mission field. But right in our own backyard and cities first. It takes real commitment to rescue these folks. Pray for more laborers in Gods harvest. Jesus said He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad. [Mat 12:30 NKJV] If we claim to be one of Gods children, rescued from sin and redeemed from hell, then we ought to be actively involved in some form of rescue. Otherwise we are working against Jesus, whether we realize it or not. So tonight is a celebration. Good things are happening. May this kind of thing roll across the USA like a clear running stream to wash the filth of this drug from our land and to create a people full of joy and gratitude to our great God and Savior Jesus Christ!
