This facebook pages comment threads are often inundated in labeling and referring to people who believe in conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, etc with lots of terms referencing a supposed lack of ability to discern reality from fantasy, a supposed lack in education, and/or a supposed lack of intelligence. I sometimes chime in that this is not a correct assumption to make. Often, I dont have the time and energy to continue to make this point, and I just dont say anything. But, heres the deal, folks: people who are otherwise capable of rational thinking, otherwise capable of discerning reality from fantasy, otherwise intelligent, and otherwise educated can believe in all sorts of nonsense all of the time. Additionally, when people seem resistant to evidence, quality evidence, and quantity of quality evidence, as well as resistant against logical and rational arguments, generally, it has due to with an ideology they hold and believe in strongly that has integrated into itself some conspiratorial or pseudoscientific beliefs.
