This has happened just now. A rightwing asshole had been harassing a Muslim friend (who lives in a metro) with constant provocative and insulting messages in Whatsapp. When my friend had had enough, he posted some of the screenshots of these messages in facebook and made it public. Now the rightwing asshole goes to the police station and puts in a false complaint that my friend has been harassing him. The cops calls him up. He calls me up. Then the rightwing asshole had the temerity to tell my friend to apologize and delete those screenshots in which case he will take back the complaint. Unfortunately for him, my friend put the call through to me on conference. And I chewed him up. After that, I called up and chewed the cops out too, and asked them as to how can someone threaten using their name? Asked them whether a person will be harassed just because he is a Muslim? This is going far. Rest assured that I will have this followed up to the very top in police hierarchy and if need be, seek judicial intervention to prosecute this asshole. ____________________________________________ This is roughly the conversation that happened between the cops and me: Me: Hello….did someone from your PS call up so and so? 1st Cop: Aap kaun bol rahein hai? Me: I introduced myself. 1st Cop: Puhcta hoon. Aap please hold kijiye. 2nd Cop: Hello, haan maine usko phone kiya tha. Uske khilaf complaint hai. Me: Police mein complaint darj hone ke baad investigation kaun karta hai? Police ya complainant? 2nd Cop: Kya maatlab? Me: Maatlab yeh ki yeh complaint aap investigate karenge ya complainant? 2nd Cop: Aap kya baat kar rahein hai? Me: Maatlab yeh hai ki complainant ne aabhi aabhi phone karke inko dhamki diya hai. Aap ka naam leke. Apologize karne keliye bola hai. Aagar complaint kiya hai tau yeh aap investigate kijiye, complainat kaun hota hai phone karke dhamki deneke liye? 2nd Cop: Nai nai yeh nehi kar sakta hai. Aaap ka banda ne hi kuch kiya hoga. Phir bhi unko bhej dijiye aabhi mein dekh leta hoon. Me: Mera banda ne hi kuch kiya hoga? Kyon? Who Muslim hei issliye? Aur who kyon police station jayega abhi raat daas baje? Ya Muslim hai issliye aap usko jabhi marji tabhi bula sakte hai? 2nd Cop: Dekihye aap aise baat nehin kar sakte. Me: Bilkul kar sakta hoon. Kar raha hoon. Yehi tau sach hai. 2nd Cop: Nehi nehi. Yeh galat hai. Me: Nehi yehi sach hai. 2nd Cop: Usne aap ko kyon phone kiya? Me: Kyon? Nehin kar sakta? Kaunse IPC section mein yeh likha hai? 2nd Cop: Dekhiye aap baat brdha rahein hai. Mein 34 saal police ki naukri kiya hoon. Kabhi aise kisine baat nehin kiya. Me: Aise harkat karenge tau sunna parega. Aap ko agar lagta hai ki mera banda nai galati kiya hai, case register kijiye aur investigate kijiye. Aur complainant ne ek nhi aur phone kiya tau mein raat 3 baaje Commissioner ko aur jo jo senior officiers ke numbers mere pass hei, sabhi ko phone karunga. Aur yeh harassment ke baire mein bataoonga. 2nd Cop: Nehin nehi aap khamokha baat bdha rahein hai. Mein usko bol dunga. Aap aap ka banda ko samjha dijiye iss larka se aur baat na karen. Me: Thhek hai….paar agar ek bhi call… 2nd Cop: Nehin karega. Me: Ok. Call ends !!
