This is a 1965 documentary of the design and fabrication of the Apollo programs navigation computer. Utterly fascinating early computer technology. They literally used women on a small production line to SEW toroid cores together with fine wire into a complex, lumpy fabric. They then folded up the resulting tapestry like pulled taffy to fit it in a small space to produce a Fixed Memory module that held 65,000 pieces of information (it that something like 64Kbytes?). Theyd stress each electronic component to 20,000g and over-voltage conditions. Check it out.
